Visitors to the Country Park at Kings Gate should take care and look out for Wild Parsnip. The plant grows in rough, dry grassland and has been found in several areas of the Country Park. It has also been found at the Disc Golf Course
If sap from the leaves and stems of Wild Parsnip gets onto your skin and the skin is then exposed to sunlight, it can cause an inflammatory reaction – a local burning sensation and a red rash. The rash may get worse over the next day or two, sometimes with blistering, but should clear up in a few days.
Signs will be erected at both areas to warn people, but in the meantime please remain vigilant and let others know.
