Mayor's Report - September

I would like to thank the residents for sending their feedback for an additional Pharmacy in Amesbury. I have written to the Integrated Care Board to have a meeting arranged, in order to review the PNA (Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment) for an additional Pharmacy in Amesbury.

During the Finance meeting in May this year, it was brought to my attention that there was an outstanding Debt of £20,000, which was due to be paid to Amesbury Town Council for the refurbishment of Public Lavatories, at the Central Car Park. The Clerk kindly sent the correspondence from Wiltshire Council, which reflected that the invoice was raised by the Town Council on 18/4/2019. I wrote to the relevant officers at Wiltshire and I am delighted to let you all know that the money was successfully credited into the Town Council account, and the clerk kindly confirmed the same on 11/8/2023.

On 21/9/2023, I met with the Leaders of the Local Churches at the Christ the King Church Hall in Amesbury.

The Amesbury Hoppa Bus serves as a transportation link for the community. As part of the Mayor's Charity Appeal, I wanted to raise money for the Hoppa Bus and therefore hosted a Bingo afternoon on 21/9/23 at the Catholic Church Hall. The total raised on behalf of the Amesbury Hoppa Bus was £820.50.

This included the sale of bingo tickets, sale of raffle tickets and donations for refreshments.

Thanks to the generous donations from all the residents and businesses of Amesbury.

All the funds raised have been paid over to Community Transport South Wiltshire, but will be ring fenced to be used for the Amesbury Hoppa Service only.

My sincere thanks goes out to all those who helped towards this initiative.

I visited Work House Hill LayBy on 26/9/2023 with the Amesbury Police to discuss the growing concerns from the residents about Anti-Social Behaviour. There are several issues that cropped up during the visit, which have been passed on to the relevant authorities at Wiltshire Council.

It was a delight to visit the Dahlia Show at the English Heritage Site on 29/9/2023.

More than 5,000 flowers have been displayed. It was wonderful to see the flower arrangements from different flower arranging clubs within Wiltshire. It was a delight to see Lady Anne Antrobus as the patron at the exhibition centre.

Thanks to the staff at the English Heritage for their outstanding hospitality.

As part of my Mayor’s Charity Appeal, it was a delight to host a Music Concert and Quiz. Night on 29/9/2023 at the Amesbury Methodist Church.

Sincere thanks go to the Amesbury Soul Singers for their outstanding performance. Every song had a message which came from the heart. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Reverend Rosemary Fletcher and her lovely husband James Fletcher for a fabulous Quiz Night at the Amesbury Methodist Church.

Thank you to “A Date with Thyme” for sponsoring the buffet for that evening.

A special thanks to all those who participated and helped towards the success of the event.

It was such a delight to open the Amesbury Community Eco Fair at the Amesbury Methodist Church on 30/9/2023.

The Eco Fair showcased stalls from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Share Salisbury – The Library of Things, Bemerton Children’s Clothing Exchange, Medic 2 Medic terracycle recycling schemes, and many more.

Finally, I would like to thank the Town Clerk for her contribution and services rendered to the Town Council. Wendy has served the Town Council for 14 1/2 years. Thank you very much for all your help and support. I would like to wish you all the very best for the future.
