John Noeken, a former military officer and senior civil servant was Town Mayor in 2005 having been a Town councillor since 1997. He is married to Rose and they have 2 grown up daughters, Clare and Jane. He has represented Amesbury East on the former Salisbury District Council from 1999 and Amesbury Town on the County Council from 2005. Currently, he is the Cabinet Member for Resources within the new Unitary Council.

He was instrumental as the then Chair of Governors, in staffing and getting the new Amesbury Archer school built before he was tasked to take on a Cabinet role within what was then Wiltshire County Council. He is Chairman of the Amesbury Sports & Activities centre and until fairly recently was also Chair of the Stonehenge Estate Residents association.
